The High Point Public Library is an amazing resource for finding anything from the latest page- turning novel to the most informative history book. With thousands of books and magazines plus regular events, High Point Public Library is a place that will never get boring. They even have events for the whole family, with a monthly printable calendar so you never have to miss an event!
An added bonus is the new Farmers Market! Open on Saturdays from 8:30am to 1pm from April to October, the High Point Farmers Market features a variety of local fresh produce, seasonal plants and herbs, handmade crafts, healthy cooking demonstrations, health screenings and fun and interactive kids’ corner. Be sure to keep an eye out for healthy cooking lessons from Barbour Spangle’s very own Christi Spangle this summer!
Public sculptures and awesome architecture – Being one of North Carolina’s most creative cities, High Point is home to some pretty impressive public art installations and buildings. Who doesn’t love nature? Piedmont Environmental Center is an inspiring and free way to get in touch with your surroundings. With 11 miles of walking trails, you can spend an entire day away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. You can even bring your dog for some added fun! If you love cars, this is the place for you! At Let’s Talk Cars local car buffs come together ever Thursday to show off their favorite oldies and classics. You can even enjoy refreshments and music. Let’s Talk Cars happens every Thursday at 5:30 in the parking lot of Kagan’s National Home Furnishing store on South Main Street.
High Point University has a year-long calendar full of free events that are open to the community! While they have special holiday and annual events like their community Christmas celebration, you can check out their calendar of community enrichment events with speakers on almost every subject that the university puts on all year long.
High Point Museum is a gem in High Point, compiling local history into fun exhibits that everyone in the family can learn from. There are both indoor and outdoor exhibits, as well as live demonstrations of tasks like blacksmithing from museum staff. You can find out all the events on their calendar.
