Furniture Market: Behind the Scenes
Can you believe it? Another High Point Spring Market has come and gone. While market time is a very fun and exciting time, it’s also extremely busy for our team. During the months of March, April, September, and October, if we’re not in the office, you can definitely find us in the showrooms. We work on several showrooms – take a look at a few here – for furniture manufacturers throughout the year (this includes creating floor plans, demolition plans, furniture placement, creative displays, accessory propping, etc.) and during these busy months, we are in those showrooms setting up all of the product and creating new, trendy, fresh spaces that inspire buyers to shop.
Construction is thought of and completed weeks before market set-up, so although we’re sometimes working on showrooms year round, we’re really only in the showrooms setting up 1-2 weeks prior to market. During that time, we’re placing the product in the correct location, selecting accessories that we’ve ordered for the furniture groups, and adding flowers to bring the vignettes to life. I love to shop at antique stores for accessories because that’s where you find one-of-a-kind items. There are so many cool things if you look hard enough!
And this is how our cars and shopping carts look during market set-up…. #whyarepeoplestaringatme
I enjoy showroom design because it’s so quick and changes all the time. One market, there may be walls in a showroom and the next market, the walls are totally reconfigured, moved, or gone. It also always has us thinking about what cool things we could do with the vignettes so that they are different and even more amazing than the previous year.
We get a little crazy sometimes … so be sure to follow along with us on social media in April and October (if not all the time ;)) – where we share our craziness during set-up!
Also stay tuned for our BSD Trend Report, created from what we saw at market this year!
